One of my newest obsessions is HGTV, and they’re always talking about “decluttering.” I realized that Escapade offers two a great opportunities for this:
- The Slash Swap Meet: Escapade’s slash swap meet is an elegant exercise in generosity. Functionally, it’s a space where fans can leave fannish stuff they no longer want (dvds, videotapes, books, etc) and pick up fannish stuff they do want. You get to decide what’s a fair swap. If didn’t bring anything to swap, but you want something, just drop a few (or many) dollars into the kitty; all funds collected at the swap table go to our convention charity (Ventura County Food Bank).
- The Orphan Zine table: This is the place to sell zines, songvids, etc. Ken (our official male member) organizes it, along with the rest of the dealers room. The convention will take a 15% commission on all sales. There’s a form online (http://escapadecon.net/dealer-room/orphan-zine) if you want to be prepared in advance, but Ken will also have forms on-site.
