The Panel Cut & What to Do With It… (via postie)

Bookmark this category
We¹ve just posted the panel cut at the Escapade site: http://escapadecon.net/?p=892. Head on over and take a look. There are a few panels labeled NEED PANELISTS. If we don¹t get volunteers, those popular panels will be dropped, and others will be promoted in their place. If you want to volunteer to lead one of these orphan panels, drop us an email at info@escapadecon.net. Also, many of these panels only have one moderator. If you see something you think you could contribute to, email us, and we¹ll hook you up with the moderator.

Panel moderators, you will be receiving a confirmation email for each panel you volunteered for, that will include your co-panelists names & email addresses. Please be sure to follow the directions in that email (which includes getting back to us by Tuesday and Friday of this week).

If your panel DIDN¹T make the cut, don¹t despair. You can still sign up for alternate programming time. Alternate programming sign-ups will be available as soon as the primary schedule is set (approximate date February 12).

In Memoriam (via postie)

So it’s Escapade 20 this year. After 20 years, part of the con’s focus is about where we’ve been and who’s been there with us. We also have an opportunity to remember the people who’ve walked part of our lives with us, and gone on ahead.

Whether you¹re coming to the convention or not, if you have a friend in the fan community or know of someone who has passed away, please drop us an email (info@escapadecon.net) and, if you have a great photo of them, or a story that should not be forgotten, please attach it. Or bring a copy to the convention and pass it on to Misti or the staff in the convention suite. At some appropriate point during the weekend, we’ll share the photos and the names so that all of us can remember.

We want to remember everyone, and there is no way we’ll avoid missing someone without your help. So please, think for a minute about Lily Fulford and Joan Martin, Bill Hupe and Minotaur. And add the names of people you want to remember with us to the list.

Thank you.

Escapade Scholarship Fund (via postie)

Bookmark this category
Escapade¹s scholarship fund has historically been about bringing a new fan to the convention, someone who has never attended the con but would love to, and for whom finances might be an issue. Here are some of the fans the scholarship fund has brought to the con over the years: Anne (Limlaith), Cereta (Lucy), Dorinda, Maygra de Rhema, Merry Lynne, Nonie Rider, Taz, Te, Valentin.

This year, in light of Escapade¹s 20th anniverary, and in response to this recession that has hit most or all of us in one way or another, we decided to help long-time attendees who would not have otherwise been able to make it. So far this year we will be helping Maygra de Rhema and Agnes Tomorrow, two long-time fans and long-time Escapade attendees, and we¹re looking forward to hosting them both.

If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund (100% of your contribution will go directly to recipient expenses) you can contribute by Paypal or by check. Details are here: http://escapadecon.net/?page_id=887. Any amount, from $10 to $200 helps!

If you weren¹t planning on coming and a little financial support would make it happen, please drop us an email. If we can help, we will.

It¹s that time again. The deadline for hotel reservations is fast approaching (February 1st). After that time, the hotel will not honor our discounted rate ($109 for a standard room, $179 for an exec king). The usual advance purchase rates for these rooms are $146.25 and $236.25. Act now to ensure you get the convention rate. You can reserve online http://escapadecon.net/?page_id=5 or by phone 805.648.2100 (be sure to tell them you¹re with Escapade).

If you have any special medical needs be sure to let the hotel know at the time of your reservation. Also, for the first time, we have a dog policy, which Dail sent by email last week. If you¹re thinking of bringing a pet to Escapade, please read it (and follow it).

We¹re looking forward to seeing you all soon!
